5. i want to show you what is going on first. upper 20s. watch out santa rosa, lake port, napa all of you in the upper 20s tonight, and you're under a freeze warning. fairfield, freeze warning for you as well. livermore below freezing. great news for skiers, we have snow showers in and around tahoe, falling all throughout the sierra. a better chance for a more significant snowfall coming up friday and saturday for your skiing pleasure. often the air behind this is coming from the pacific ocean. it's chilly, but not cold. northern canada, it has to slide down. that pattern does not happen that often. it will happen this time, all the way down to los angeles, pheonix, and we care about the bay area it will be cold for the next several days with the jet stream down to the mexican border. here's the little ripple. a chance of rain fall. it will not snow in the cities, but it it will snow down to 2,000 feet. that's low. likely you will wake up on saturday morning and see snow at the top of each of the peaks. tomorrow, even colder than today. if you didn't have one today, get it tomorrow

and getting colder. let's review the day first because we didn't really warm up much today, did we? in napa you had a high of 53. san jose 52. livermore and concord barely above 50 degrees for no more than 30 or 45 minutes. setting the stage for tonight, tonight will be a widespread freeze. the entire bay area with only the city of san francisco the exception. we are talking lows in the mid- 20s to the low 30s bringing the pets inside protect the plants if you can. these are some of the lows tonight. napa down to 25. redwood city 30. san jose you're going to hit 29. and livermore tonight 25 very cold degrees. some of you are saying, i don't like the cold. that's why i live in the bay area. i'll answer when the cold is going to end when we'll get back to normal in the full forecast in 10 minutes. >> thank you. >>> our own len ramirez is in gilroy tonight where farmers are bracing for the overnight freeze, as well. lenny. >> reporter: it already feels like we're in an icebox in gilroy and there are a lot of crops in the ground so it's going to be a long night for growers in this part of the b

for a good reason. oakland, high of 54. napa, 53 degrees. it's not just the freeze warning, it's a winter weather advisory tomorrow night into early saturday, into the east bay hills and santa cruz mountains, above 2500 feet. we will likely see 2-4 inches of snowfall. look at mount diablo. it will probably be white on top. here's the deal. high pressure to the north and west. bringing down the arctic air. calling it the arctic express it will continue. low pressure dropping down tomorrow that will fire off the rain showers for us. in the higher elevations as i mentioned, it's snowfall. the temperatures a degree or two milder than today, but not by much. santa rosa, 53. your extended forecast, right on through the weekend, a lot of you doing your christmas shopping it will be cold. we will clear out saturday afternoon. highs around 50. another freezing night sunday. mid-50s on monday and tuesday, and finally, back to the 60s on wednesday, and back out here live in walnut creek. the band's name appropriately called the mistletoes, and folks are getting ready for the holiday party here. live
